If you follow my blog, you’ll know that I just visited New York City and I can honestly it say it changed my whole look on life. The atmosphere of all the lights and the people running to catch the next cab is just so invigorating. I don’t know why anyone wouldn’t want to live here.
The plane ride over there was just full of excitement and me attempting to try and stay calm because I didn’t really know what to expect. I’ve visited New York back when I was 12 but back then I just wanted to see the Statue of Liberty and go to Central park. I wasn’t very focused on the lifestyle of New York. And for so long I’ve always said I wanted to move to New York but I didn’t really know much about it, just that it’s the city that never sleeps and if you love fashion, this is the place to be. So I was hopeful that I would love it here but I was also worried it wouldn’t be what I thought it was.
Once I finally got there and stepped out of the subway and looked around, I was hooked. People were passing by holding brief cases, shopping bags, or the arm of a loved one; all traveling different places, living separate lives and all I wanted was to be a part of it. I spent the first day just wandering the streets for hours. Exploring everywhere I could in the short amount of time I had.
I also could not get over the fashion. Here where I live, the outfits I wear are considered “dressy” or I get the “Why are you so dressed up all the time?” question because everyone here mostly wears jeans and a tank top and calls it a day. But in New York, Fashion is EVERYWHERE. Girls dressed head to toe in beautiful outfits just to go shopping or out to lunch with a friend and I love it. I got so many outfit inspirations from just seeing people’s street style and no one looked at anyone thinking. “Wow, she is way too dressed up.”
After exploring as much as I could, I decided where I want to end up living one day (If I can afford it… probs won’t be able to but I can dream!) I would love to live in SoHo. That area is just everything I love. All the buildings are beautiful, there’s actually trees (I do like my greenery) and its very art related. The vibe there just so relaxing and a bit calmer than other parts of Manhattan. SoHo was definitely one of new favorite places.
Here are two of the outfits I wore in New York. The first one, was my night outfit when it got a bit cooler out. I love this dress because it is so comfy, almost like a T-shirt dress but the turtle neck gives it more of a classic look which I love. I paired it with my favorite boots that are in a lot of my blog posts and my tassel purse from forever 21!
The second outfit I did a whole blog post on if you would like to check that out (:
I can’t even put into words how much fun I had on this trip and how magical New York. The whole time I was there, in my head, Taylor Swift’s song “Welcome to New York” kept replaying because everything she wrote it so true.
“Everybody here wanted something more, searching for a sound we haven’t heard before.”
“The lights are so bright but they never blind me.”
“Like any great love, it keeps you guessing. Like any real love, it’s ever changing. Like any true love, it drives you crazy but you know you wouldn’t change anything.”
Coming home from this trip felts so different from any other trip I’ve been on because normally I am excited to come home and sleep in my own bed but this time, my bed didn’t feel the same. I didn’t really feel at home anymore.
Cannot wait to move to New York one day. I don’t know how that’s going to happen, but I am determined to make it happen! (:
